Before it was not really possible to visit the Mursi. The average stay of a tourist was 30 minutes, because of the uncomfortable interactions between the Mursi and the visitors. Certain Mursi communities have declared their wish to welcome visitors into their area for longer stays. This is still in the experimental phase, but it allows visitors a look into a side of the Mursi not seen by many visitors. All revenue from campsites and wildlife tours go directly to the Mursi community. Many other places can be visited by tourists in Mursi territory, but only Uchuro Bai, Maganto, Dargush, Kon Ba, and Makki will share the collected revenue amongst the wider Mursi community. Other areas frequented by tourists, such as the village near the bridge and Bele, do not share revenues.
Prices are in Ethiopian birr, at the time of this writing 1 US dollar = 11.3 Ethiopian birr.

Prices to stay overnight
cost of campsite overnight per person 100 birr

Day visits will only incur the 100 birr per person day fee and the 100 birr guide fee.
The Mursi additionally charge for photographs, 5 birr per photo of an adult, 2 birr for a photo of a child and 7 birr for photo of a lady with a child. This money is given to the individual Mursi at the time of the photograph.

Payment will be taken by trusted elders of the area where the campsite is located. The elders for Maganto campsite are: Lugolonyibenna Artuhola, Gumunyukowlo Olibui, Komuholi Deriwa, Lemuma Tilakiwo. For Uchuro Bai are: Rugoimedere Mederholi, Ulikoro Bidameri, Uligidangdor Bidameri. For Makki are: Bioitangia and others, inquire in Makki.
This kind of tourism is new to the Mursi. Visitors must expect some disorganization while the Mursi learn to host visitors.
